Dear Scouting Families and Leaders,
Based on the recommendation of the Council Enterprise Risk Management Committee (ERMC) the following procedures and guidelines will be effective June 1, 2022. The ERMC has recommended the discontinued use of the following forms pertaining to our camps and facilities, events, activities, and meetings.
- Youth Member Release & Waiver of Liability
- Adult Member Release & Waiver of Liability
- Supplemental Medical Permission Form
Additionally, the following forms are no longer needed for units attending our Michigan Scout camps this summer:
- Unit Checklist (COVID)
- Summer Camp Unit Checklist (COVID)
MASKS
Masks are no longer required for Scouting activities, however, if Scouting event participants are unvaccinated, they are encouraged to wear a mask or appropriate face covering. Mask coverings may be required by Chartered Organizations or meeting locations. Scouting leaders are encouraged to consult with their Charter Organization or meeting location to determine if masks are required.
ANNUAL HEALTH & MEDICAL RECORD
All participants in Scouting programs to required to complete and provide (as necessary) the BSA Annual Health and Medical Record (AHMR). The AHMR form has not changed and was required prior to COVID. To ensure the health and safety of our Scouts, families, and leaders, the guidelines below will be followed:
- Parts A & B – For all events and activities lasting less than 72 hours in duration.
- Parts A, B & C – For events, activities, and resident camps lasting 72 hours or more.
- Risk Advisory – Scouts and units attending any of the BSA High Adventure Bases are required to complete the Risk Advisory specific to the High Adventure Base. This should be reviewed with your healthcare provider at the time of your pre-participation exam.
TEMPERATURE AND WELLNESS CHECKS
Temperature and wellness checks will continue to be conducted for all Scouting events, activities, and meetings. All unit, district, and council events will use sign-in rosters with names, email, and phone for contract tracing and notification of COVID exposure, if necessary.
EXPOSURE TO COVID NOTIFICATION
Scouts, family members, or leaders exposed to COVID-19 should notify those individuals who may have been in close contact with the individual during a Scouting event or meeting. Those exposed to COVID-19 should follow current Center for Disease Control (CDC) quarantine guidelines and recommendations.
